The right approach is to go deep than going wide and solopreneruship is no different but people often make the mistake of going wide than going deep.
The right approach is to go deep than going wide and solopreneruship is no different but people often make the mistake of going wide than going deep.
Let me explain what I mean.
In a business, if one has a sales channel setup for selling a certain kind of products, the common intelligence is to sell more than one product using the same sales channel. If the products are similar or of the same kind, it is ok to going wide with the line of products but when the products offer a vast range of diversity, it may end up disrupting the channel and the business.
For e-commerce portal in India, the right approach should be to be a go-to portal for certain type of products but every portal prefer to sell anything and everything assuming it will increase their sales using the same network but for going so wide it needs those deep pockets for marketing but more importantly it needs the expertise and experience as well.
So everyone may not be able to go wide, in the early stages of the business and so going deep can be a good choice. The same can be applied to solopreneurs.
If you are working for clients, it is easy to niche freelancing but if you are a company as well, one should focus on going deep in a niche or focus to few geo for clients and build expertise to master in a smaller niche.
As a blogger, start with a micro niche and then go wide over time once micro niche is covered to a large extent.
Remember being a big fish in a small pond is much better and satisfying as a freelancer or blogger than being a small fish in a very big pond.
Doing less is a good success mantra and focus on doing less but making a bigger impact.
