The best part of part time freelancing is you have so much time in between projects to address todo list of things for self-development.
Here is the list of things that I like to work in my free time between projects or when I take a break from freelancing.
I love reading books and magazines related business, finance, self-development and marketing and prefer avoiding fiction. I use the time between projects to read and even read when I have less pressure of deliverables.
I prefer reading in one go and have a hard time putting down a book. So I prefer reading in my free time between the projects and avoid reading on a daily basis because at times I just cannot leave the book unfinished.
2. Take A Course
Apart from reading, I prefer taking a course on Udemy or Tuts+. My first choice is reading but for the last couple of time, I opted for an online course. One was iOS development and other was Michael Hyatt’s platform university.
You don’t need to learn something for your work but you can learn something for your passion as well. But using the time between projects to learn something new and interesting for self-development is the best part of being a part time freelancer.
I like (still would not say love) writing and as I am writing more and more, I have started to love writing.
I have always been an occasional writer and it was because in the midst of freelancing I used to write for my blogs. As I write more, made a self-commitment to write a lot more for IMTips and this has made me fall in love for writing.
4. Side Projects
You can have a side project or a weekend project that you can work in between projects. There are numerous options like:
Anything that you want to be doing in childhood dreams.
5. Holiday Time
The best part is you have time off but the worst part is your kids may have school and regular stuff. We have still managed few trips to nearby places in 2016 though.
Even if you cannot go outdoor, can use it as a family time because the life of a freelancer can be challenging when you have deliverables scheduled.
