If you are an entrepreneur and especially webmaster you should be able to read your stats effectively and so today I will create an open discussion where we analyze the biggest traffic day and what was the main reason for the spike in the traffic. If you can understand the reason behind the best traffic day(s) we can repeat that often to get the traffic to next level possible.
Let me show you an example first. CFanatic.com is redesigned with fresh new look. After a week of redesigned I saw a traffic spike. I thought it was just for redesign but when I analyzed my stats I saw that the spike was mainly because of social bookmarking by some user or guest to a new yet very related site to CFanatic.com i.e. dotnetkicks
After I knew the reason I could easily submit good links to dotnetkicks and get the traffic repeatedly from them on a more consistent basis. You can see in the picture below that I am able to repeat that very easily.
Many may argue that social bookmarking is very common for traffic spikes and one or the other site may bring tons of visitors to the site but that is not the only reason for traffic spikes and it can be as simple as emailing your users.
And so if you understand why the spike, you can repeat the same more regularly.
