in Affiliate Marketing, Make Money

When it comes to making money from your websites there are many ways apart from advertising and that is Affiliate Programs. Affiliate programs are where you take a commission for referring a customer to a product or a user to a website. Affiliate programs are better known as CPA ( Cost per Action ) advertising and there are many advertising networks specializing in these. Few of them which I prefer and use are Commission Junction, ClickBank, Amazon but there are many more as well. So lets start with few of the basic tips you should follow when you promote your affiliate products.

1. Select the right product

This is not one but two of the most important tips according to me. First best product and then the best product for your niche. You should list good-quality products that you have purchased recently that match your niche. Sign up to Amazon Associates or any other affiliates niche through which the product can be promoted and you can provide links to them. If you cannot find good products search your competitors and related areas for reviews to get an idea of the products you could feature.

2. Authenticate Products

Never suggest your readers bad product and if you do so expect to lose your reputation very quickly. If you follow CodeItWell.com regularly you would see that I recommend here products like vBulletin / AWeber not because they have good affiliate payments but because I use them for years without much problem and they are the best product in the niche.

3. Be Honest

If you read about any product I review here I always have honest review and also in the review I show the weaknesses before the strengths. The best results I had from affiliate programs are where I give an open and honest review and no matter what I always tend to have an honest review. Be it AWeber Review or Cheap Hosting suggestions I always suggest products I have used and try to be honest with my views. Yahoo Search Marketing is a product where I am an affiliate but I have a negative review about it because its not the best available product and lags a lot when you compare it with Adwords. I suggest Adwords despite I am an affiliate of Yahoo Search marketing to my clients and friends.

4. Link directly to the product

When you are doing a review of your own laptop and user reading your honest review may be interested in purchasing the product and so link directly to the page where they can buy it. Adsense work great for majority of publishers because of its contextual matching of ads with content. The same is true for affiliate programs. Link to the specific product from specific pages. A banner to a general page on every page on your site won’t fetch you good results.

5. Track your Traffic

The more people who see your affiliate links, the more likely you will make a sale but then you should see which link placement makes more sales. I see that links after the review gets less clicks than the one at the top but are very high on conversion. This means that after reading the review user is much clearer if he wishes to purchase it or not and so if he clicks on the link he is more likely to purchase. Some text makes more sales than other and you can try and test out different things.
