5 Tips to Make More Money with Chitika

After my detail Review about Chitika many people asked me about how I am quoting them as best CPC network yet they are not able to make good money out of Chitika. I looked at lots of things of each of the user and after looking at the way they implemented Chitika, saw many issues which I think would be common to many. I am listing them here so that you can optimize it for yourself and if you still have issue you can post them in comments and I would be more than happy to look at them.

1. Use Mega Size Ad

Chitika supports quite a few creative ad formats. One member implemented 300 x 250 sized ad and I asked him to convert it to 550 x 250 and his income just doubled. It’s considerably wider and it gives a look of inline content rather than an ad which improved CTR.

Check out which ad size works best with you and do not hesitate to put larger one because ads are only shown to search traffic and not to your regular visitor.

2. Provide Backup Tags

Unless you do not want to show any ad to non-search user you should always select the backup tag option. See the figure below.

The option you should select varies and if you have some better paying ad network which you can use try them or else you can use the Chitika Backfill ads.

3. Have ads in the most prominent positions

The problem with webmasters is that they are not willing to get true stats. One member had Adsense in the prime location on his website and added Chitika at some other area. It was good but for experimentation I always prefer to use the slot where I have some stats before and when I try new advertiser on the same spot I can easily compare the stats. I am damn sure no matter how much money you make from Adsense it can be tested for couple of days with other good ad network and see if you can beat that. If you can, fine or else back to the one that was working.

I experiment with Chitika on SEO Forum by replacing the best performing ad and I instantly saw the impact on my Adsense earnings but still wanted to compare the same with my overall earnings and saw that it was not good option to have Chitika where I have Adsense but after few placement, I have settled into a placement where I have good CTR of Chitika and without impacting Adsense earnings.

4. Have ads on content pages.

Maximum earnings from Chitika comes from the premium ads which are the ones shown to US and CA search engine traffic. So instead of having Chitika ads on all pages of your site you should try having Chitika on pages where you have maximum search engine traffic which most of the time are the content pages.

5. Refer your Friend to Chitika
