Tanmoy Deb emailed me very interesting question
Please elaborate the more about “Inbound Marketing”
To understand Inbound Marketing first you should understand what Outbound Marketing is?
Outbound Marketing
“Outbound Marketing” is where a marketer pushes his message out by participating in trade shows, seminars, or even an email blast to purchased lists, telemarketing, advertising…
Outbound marketing is getting less and less effective because we are creative enough to find ways to block it and so people now tend to move towards Inbound Marketing.
Inbound Marketing
“Inbound Marketing” is a type of marketing where you help yourself “getting found” by people already seeking information about your industry. This is mainly achieved by creating a blog or a website about product people are searching for and so Instead of pushing to customer, create useful content and tools so that customers call them for more information.
Example
Let’s take a simple example. I provide an email marketing services to clients at PeoplesDB.com (or you can purchase and handle yourself at Aweber). Now instead of pushing people to find about the services I created this article on marketing which people can find and if they need Email Marketing can contact me.

It’s certainly becoming more difficult to find effective outbound marketing strategies that work. No one wants to be “solicited” or bothered at an inconvenient time. Why not provide useful information that can benefit others which is at their disposal when they need it.
Outbound marketing is similar to ‘hit and run’:Inbound_Outbound_marketing
A high speed engine that doesn’t last long: the fast (Italian) sports car.
Inbound marketing is long lasting.
Just like an old diesel engine that takes time to come up to speed, but once momentum builds up it overtakes (outbound marketing) and lasts many times longer.
