Google Automatically Merges +1′s of 301 Permanent Redirected URLs where As Facebook Like Doesn’t

by Shabbir on January 28, 2013

I recently changed URLs of Go4Expert to Section based urls and was really surprised to see that Google+ merges +1′s of old and new URLs for 301 permanent redirects where as Facebook and twitter does not do anything about it.

FaceBook Old Like Google Automatically Merges +1s of 301 Permanent Redirected URLs where As Facebook Like Doesnt

Facebook Likes to Old URL

Facebook New Like Google Automatically Merges +1s of 301 Permanent Redirected URLs where As Facebook Like Doesnt

Facebook Likes to New URL

Google+ is really smart

Facebook Twitter GooglePlus Google Automatically Merges +1s of 301 Permanent Redirected URLs where As Facebook Like Doesnt

Facebook Likes, Tweets and +1′s to new URL

suggesting it has better chance of impacting the search results. What are your thoughts on the same?
