Effective PPC Marketing Tips – Things you should do.

Pay per click and specially Adwords is one of the best ways to get quality traffic to new websites if done in the right way. If you are not aware of what is Pay per Click Advertising Please read PPC Marketing.

Today I will discuss few PPC Tips which can help you get good traffic and paying less as you move along. Before I discuss anything I will show you something.

This is the graph of last 20 days for one of my campaign in Adwords account. Blue line is the cost. Green line in first one is CTR and clicks in second one.

Isn’t there something very interesting there? After 11th a sudden decrease in cost and clicks with much higher CTR. I experimented which started generating less clicks but with higher CTR and suddenly after few days I am paying quite less than first 10 days and getting more and more clicks aka traffic. Almost double the traffic and yet not paying the same amount I used to pay before.

So what did I do? Just reduced the price per click I am willing to pay to Google. Simple but not actually, just reducing the amount not important the only factor but the important aspect is why I could do that. My quality score for the campaign was and is very very high. Almost close to 9 on an average. So I will share how you can decrease your cost at will by increasing the Quality Score. See Improve Adwords Quality Score. Let me add more tips to the above article.

  • Ads

    1. Use your keyword where-ever you can in the ad. i.e. in title, in description, in your visible URL …
    2. Test your Ads. Create many versions of each ad changing just one component at a time to test different titles, features, URLs etc but remember not to make big changes based on small time frames. The changes I did in the last week of December ran for 10+ days before making more changes.
    3. Use the Keyword insertion tool in ads e.g. {KeyWord: Alternate Best Working Title goes here} to increase CTR
    4. Create a sense of urgency in your ad e.g. “Offer Expiring Soon”, “Act Now”, “See Yourself”, “Call Now for Discount” …
    5. Keep and eye on your competitor’s ads and see what they are doing and how they are working on PPC Campaigns.
  • Keywords

    1. Finding the right keywords is the most important in internet marketing but don’t let this play on your mind just too much. See how Facebook  does its keyword research for PPC Marketing.
    2. Include singular and plural variations of a keyword.
    3. Use exact match and phrase match keywords.
    4. Include common misspellings in your keyword list.
  • Campaigns

    1. Use different campaigns for the content and search networks. It will help you to track your CTR and ROI in much better way.
    2. Never under-estimate content network but do check where your ads are being shown. Add any under-performing or undesirable sites to the negative list.
    3. Check your campaigns and reports daily. Even opt for Email Notification of reports in Adwords.
  • Landing Pages

    1. Create special landing pages for specific keywords / ad’s. This will help you generate more keyword rich pages for your ads.
    2. Don’t expect the user to find the product from the list instead do a deep link to the product/ service you are advertising.
  • Miscellaneous

    1. Have a new Google Adwords account for all your website and buy and apply Google Adwords promotional credit for new accounts.
    2. Apart from Search Engine PPC think about advertising in less obvious places as competition would be less there.
