Real Time Google Analytics Stats

In the new Google Analytics interface, you can see Real Time Traffic stats. Visit home tab from top and you will see the Real Time Stats link in the left sidebar right at the beginning.

If you don’t see the Real time stats in your account don’t get worried because it is only available to few publishers only.

Good news for Indian CJ affiliates. Indians now can receive Direct Deposit from CJ. This will save lot of time (1 Month to receive cheque and then 21 Working days for cheque clearance) and money (Bank charges for clearing USD Checks).

You need to select Payment by Direct Deposit and enter the account details. In the International Routing Code enter your NEFT/IFSC Code for your bank’s branch.

Old Google Analytics Interface only allowed linking single Adwords account to single Google Analytics account but the New Google Analytics Interface now supports linking multiple Google Adwords accounts to single Google Analytics account.

I have multiple Adwords account for my sites and the old interface created lot more challenges to tracking Adwords ROI for each of the website inside Google Analytics. New Google Analytics account settings area makes it easy to use auto-tagging with multiple Adwords accounts and import your Adwords data into each of your Google Analytics Site Profile.

Instructions on how to link multiple Adwords account can be found on the official Google Analytics Blog here.

I am sure lot of people have been waiting for this feature.

When withdrawing funds from PayPal I was not charged any withdrawal fees.

I don’t have any official announcement yet on this but this could be possible because I opted for Auto Withdrawal Option

When I tried withdrawing money from my PayPal account, found a notice for automatic withdrawal option. The only question I had related to automatic withdrawal was about the withdrawal fees and found the answer in FAQ and I quote

Type of withdrawal PayPal fee

Auto withdrawals made to your bank account in India None

Withdrawals that you make to your bank account in India None

Type of withdrawal	PayPal fee
Auto withdrawals made to your bank account in India	None
Withdrawals that you make to your bank account in India	None

I enabled Automatic withdrawal option in my account.

Now when I tried withdrawing I still see the fees against my expectation of None.

As usual PayPal will take few months to get that implemented. So I did not complete the withdrawal to see how PayPal handles fees when automatically transferring funds to my bank account.

Yesterday Google stock (NASDAQ:GOOG) jumped 12% on the back of very good results and Google CEO Larry Page made a statement about Google+ and I quote

After two weeks of beginning their limited field trial of Google+ we have official numbers of 10 million Google Plus users, and 1 billion items being shared each day.

AdSense is turning eight tomorrow (See the official announcement here). I never realized until yesterday that I was using Adsense almost 13 months after it launched i.e. from July 15th 2004!

Why Google +1 Will Fail in Google SERPs

As Google’s +1 Button gathers more data it will become part of Google search results algorithm but according to me Google +1 will fail drastically when implemented in search algorithm for multiple reasons.

1. +1 requires Google profile

Making a Google Profile a requirement for +1 buttons is a move on Google’s part to match Facebook’s user profiles. The aim of Google is to have more Google profiles which mean Google has more personal and demographic information about user than it has currently. The motivation for Google is obvious. It needs more user personal data to show more and more related ads to you.

2. +1 May be for SEO Spammers

Google Panda update took a big toll on search engine spammers but with +1 Google will open doors once again for spammer. Google +1 is clearly showing signal that it can give you search ranking benefits where as with Facebook like button, user only recommends the content to their friends. The more motivated user of +1 would be a person intensely interested in search engine ranking.

3. +1 in Google SERP’s May be useless

I am not sure if I could ever judge from Google Results (Read Google search result excerpt) the quality of a site or content. If a user doesn’t know the quality of a page before a visit, how can they honestly click on +1 for it? In short, Google needs other ways to gather data before they can show recommendation and so they need to convince webmaster’s to have the +1 button installed on their site.

4. Google needs Friend Information

Google is focusing more on getting user profiles but for +1 to work on search results page they also need to find people I know i.e. my friends. If I click on +1 it does not make sense to have the same recommendation shown to me again because I anyway know it is good but it makes lot more sense if my friends see my +1. How will Google gather information about people I know can be tricky and I hope it’s not using the GMail’s address book?

PayPal Still not Compliant With RBI Guidelines

As per PayPal, to become compliant with RBI Guidelines they suggested -

Effective March 1, 2011 any balance in and all future payments into your PayPal account may not be used to buy goods or services and must be transferred to your bank account in India within 7 days from the receipt of confirmation from the buyer in respect of the goods or services.

So my understanding of the above statement was that if we wish to purchase any good or services and still want to pay using PayPal, we need to pay using our credit card on PayPal account and can’t use PayPal funds as source of fund. Today when I purchased couple of domains from Godaddy and made the payment through PayPal, I expected the payment to be deducted from my credit card but to my surprise it was deducted from my PayPal funds.

The guidelines I am quoting can be seen if you login to your PayPal India account by clearing your browser’s cache.

In the screenshot above PayPal remind Indian’s about “RBI Guidelines” but they lag the same. What an Irony? Today is March 9 and if PayPal don’t follow what they drafted, I really doubt on functional aspect of PayPal. What about you?

Google Say – Bing Copies Me. Do You Agree?

In my last post about Blackhat SEO I outlined the kind of effect you may see if you are not relying on unique and relevant content. If you are affected by this move by Google, you may be wondering why Google is behind small webmaster like me but that is not true. Google is not only fighting the copy scams by webmaster’s but is even behind Microsoft Bing and reports they also does the same. They are copying Google.

Microsoft’s Bing uses Google search results—and denies it.

I quote.

Bing is using some combination of:

Internet Explorer 8, which can send data to Microsoft via its Suggested Sites feature

the Bing Toolbar, which can send data via Microsoft’s Customer Experience Improvement Program

Now that is not all. If you dig a bit deeper you will see there is a big fight on between Google and Bing. See TechCrunch.
