The competition is stiff in the crowded online world. The best way to get noticed is to stay on top of search engine listings. The ‘rankings game’, too is so very complex. Because there are just no hand-me-down rules for Search Engine Optimization. However, the suave SEO professional can work diligently to put his site on top of search engine listings using these smart SEO techniques.
- SEO-optimized web design: Make it easy for the search engine spiders to spot you. A logical approach to design attracts spiders better. Keep the design simple and specific. Make navigation hassle-free and provide links to other sites, wherever applicable.
- SEO-optimized web content: Research and identify keywords that are applicable to your website and use them in the website content. Search engines are constantly on the lookout for these keywords. If your content is keyword-optimized, chances of your site appearing on top of a search for that particular keyword is higher. Ideally, 2-3% saturation of keywords would enable easy identification by search engine spiders. Most importantly, the title of your content should use the keyword in order to attract the search engine. Also, be accurate when you use anchor texts to specify links. And use meta tags wisely to add value to your keywords.
- Add a site map page: A site map allows for easy crawling. A site map helps spiders find all the important pages on your site and identify your site’s hierarchy. The navigation is easier and the spiders crawl through easily, making for a better site ranking.
- Create SEO-friendly URLs: Use keywords in your URLs and file names. Use hyphens and not underscores in URLS and file names. Be warned! Too many hyphens may make your link look like spam and visitors may be turned off by it.
- Use press releases: Use press releases to make announcements about your company’s activities from time-to-time. But use it only when there is something interesting to tell. This way, you get to share vital information about your business while creating links to your website.
- Submit articles: Articles sites are a great way to create links to your site. Provide keyword-rich content that is loaded with interesting information related to your area of expertise. This way, you get people interested in your business and you provide link visibility to search engines.
- Submit to directories: Submit links to reputed directories like Yahoo, DMOZ, Best of the Web and so on. Get links from sites related to your area of activity. Go local and build links on sites specify to your locality.
- Use social media: Use social media sites and groups to build relationships, links and enhance your online presence. Be an active contributing member in social media sites like Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. Use Yahoo Answers to inform and build links. Start a blog and create links to your site from the blog. Bookmark vital links to your site on social bookmarking sites like StumbleUpon. They provide very useful links and give a lot of visibility to your site. Be an active bookmarker and get noticed better. Inform, educate and excite people in social media, if you want them to spread the word about your business.

Shabir,
My blog site used to show up in the first search page itself on Google search for more than 15 keywords until few days ago. All of sudden all are gone. Now none of those KEYWORDS show my site in the search results. I wonder what happened.
Now, even my site URL put in the search box do not bring my site anywhere in the search results. Is it happened because Google had removed my site from its index list? Earlier the same site used to show up on 1 st or 2 nd line on the first search page itself!!
How to diagnose this problem so that I can rectify. I did not do anything against Google terms.
Thanks
If you have not done anything drastic on your end you may be hit by the latest Google Panda update.
Shabir,
I found the word : ‘Push up ‘ has less competition but good searching when analysed in Google Keyword. Now this word is to be used with other words such as ‘Push up methods’ Push up exercise etc. Will it affect SEO factor of the word ” ‘Push up” in my articles?
Another thing:
‘Push up methods’ : In this word, if I make the ‘Push up’ part in bold or italic style ( because the word ‘Push up’ has good search rating but less competition where as the word ‘ Push up methods’ do not have that much search), is the Keyword effect of the word ‘Push UP” retained?
Waiting for your comment Shabir
Umme, concentrate on writing content for your user and if it makes sense to have the words in bold you should make them but just for the sake of making it SE friendly don’t do it.
Yes when it comes to getting links I would recommend having variation in anchor text really helps.
